nt 4 help needed

  garby 12:52 21 Oct 04

A computer which was previously connected on a nt4 network, is now used as a stand-alone. The problem is that when the pc is booted up, it is locked out. It requests a password/Administrators password to access it.
With no CD-Rom's or floppy disks, is it at all possible to get by the log-on using other techniques or means.
Somebody mentioned something called snifferdog....any ideas how it works and how could i obtain it?

Otherwise..any other ideas how to access the pc, all ideas entertained.

By the way, the network it was previously connected on, is in another part of the country, you see now, how the problem occurred.

NT4 was designed so that you could only log-on to the operating system after supplying a username and password that was previously set up by the system administrator.

Do you know the administrator password or can you get hold of it? If you can log on as the administrator then you can set the user accounts on the computer and set it to not look for a local network when it is booted up.

If you really want to change the way that users log in to make it more friendly, then you may have to look at upgrading your operating system, either to win98, or xp home.

Are you using the system as a standalone in a business situation or as a home user?
