Nothing On Screen

My pal has a compaq presario sr2000. When he switches on he gets nothing on the monitor. Have swopped monitors, same problem. There appears to be no HD activity on switch on, however, if I remove the Graph Card and switch on I can see some HD activity. Presume either the G Card, HD or P. Supply has gone west but is there a quick way of identyfying the problem?

Try a New PSU

Well presumably the PSU is still working or you wouldn't get any HDD activity with or without the graphics card. You could check the graphics card in another machine if you have one or a friend's maybe.

Do you get any beeps on POST?

Bloomin spare P.Unit I have is not SATA. Might have one in a working PC though. No beeps on POST!

"Bloomin spare P.Unit I have is not SATA"
?? what are you meaning ??

  Legslip 22:24 07 Jul 10

The HD & Cd are SATA drives and the existing PU has SATA feeds. My spare one doesn't.

Thinking further, if there is no POST screen then doesn't that eliminate the Mbd?

  Legslip 22:53 07 Jul 10

Sorry, meant to say eliminate the HD!!

Took the RAM out, still no beeps.

  Legslip 23:21 07 Jul 10

Disconnected everything and took RAM out. Now get a 3 second beep and a seven second beep continuosly. If I put a stick of RAM back I get no beeps. It;s not the RAM (I think) as I have two sticks and have swopped 'em.
