Notebook Keyboard malfunction

When I booted my Packard Bell notebook, I found the keyboard was not working properly. When a key is pressed nothing happens for about a second and then several characters will appear until I release the key. I've tried reinstalling the driver, using system restore and rebooting several times without success. A separate USB keyboard works perfectly when plugged into the notebook.

When looking in device manager it shows the keyboard as working properly but under 'Other devices' there is a yellow ? against PCI FLASH memory, could this be causing the problem ? what is PCI FLASH memory ? Do I need it ? and where do I find a driver to install it. (This machine is second hand and came with no OS or driver CD's

Thanks

Matt
