notebook drivers

I bought a notebook computer a couple of years ago, and have just decided to re install windows xp professional.

I have re installed windows xp professional only to find that some of the devices have not been detected and the drivers are not installed, and i do not have a disk with the drivers on.

Is there any standard audio, graphic and ethernet controller drivers that are available for download free of charge? Or is there any way of finding out what the brand of the undetected devices are?

Any suggestions

What make is the laptop? Many have a similar origin and can be sorted out with a google search.
