The CD/DVD drive on my notebook is not always behaving itself - some discs it wil play and then another time won't play - I've decided to change it. Can I buy any relacement optical drive or do I have to purchase one especially for notebooks? also if/when I buy a new one will I have to uninstall the drivers of the old one?
Thanks in anticipation

To fit a new drive depending on make, the notebook may have to be dismantled to fit a new one

Drivers are all the same.

Drives are often generic.

However the caddy it fits in to connect to your laptop is often unique even to the model of laptop.

Make and model info may help.

I have an Evesham Quest notebook. Taking out the old one is easy - it is a Sony. Evesham no longer have anything to do with notebooks.
