not formatted

i have a slave drive in computer its partitioned into 2 80gbs one i can access no problem the other comes up as not formatted does this mean i have lost everything on the drive or is there anyway to recover it ? also what has caused this ?

You may need to go into drive managment and format/make the partition active,this is if you are using XP.If you format it throught that console you will lose whatever data is on that partition.
