I am running NIS and NAV and have heard thatit slows systems down. Can anyone confoirm this and if so is AVG any better for freeing up RAM / Speeding up system. I have 512 Ram and sometimes when browsing it seems slower. Have BB and Processes are OK.

Any thought gents (and fellow ladies!!)

I was a long term fan of Norton Utilities from 1991 when disk doctor saved a university essay from loss and regularly bought updates. However, recent version (from about 2000 onwards) seem to me to be bloated beyond any use.

In the last couple of years I moved from Norton Systemworks to Avast AV (free) and Sygate Personal Firewall (free) along with Mailwasher to catch spam.

All three work well together and cause no noticeable effect on the operation of the machine.
