The timeout waiting for the performance data collection function "PerfProc" in the "C:\WINDOWS\System32\perfproc. dll" Library to finish has expired. There may be a problem with this extensible counter or the service it is collecting data from or the system may have been very busy when this call was attempted.

Trawling through the internet in response to this brings up many many programs that can be affeceted by the Volume Shadow Copy Service Error.

I whole lot if them are driver based.

I am assuming you have XP.

Can you check your event log and post what it says?

Got to Start-> Control Panel ->Perfarmance and Maintenance ->Administrative tools ->Event Viewer.

There will be some different events Applications, Security and System.

Check them all, if you see a Warning (yellow ! triangel), click on it.

It will open a new window and on the window will be a copy icon (two sheets of paper) click that and paste it here.

for instance I have
