i bought Norton systemworks premier 2006 for my XP based pc. while installing GoBack it stops and says that i have too many programs open to continue installing.

i have no open programs on the desktop. there are about 35 processes operating in the background though.

is there a way to install it with minimum programs running?

Cheers

right i guessed that would be the case, how do i enter safe mode?

is it just a case of entering setup on startup and selecting it from there?

depending on os, in xp pro which i have it is F8 during boot up ie dos screen.

i pressed f8 and entered start up in safe mode. although when i opened the contents of the disc and clicked the setup application an error message appeared saying that i couldn't install this particular file in safe mode.

any other ideas peeps?

full of bugs "go-back" seems to be one of the main culprits..

looks like i should have bought something else.

what other system maintenance, virus protection etc package is worthwhile then?

You do not need to do that maybe a custom install would be better leaving "go-back" off as it is a resourse hugger cos of the way it works and just use
the system restore facility that works just as well..
