Norton repeatedly warning of Hacker

  deep-joy 14:28 16 May 05

A friend of mine on broadband has Norton installed. She used to receive the occasional warnings of an attempted intrusion. For the last week they have been happening every few minutes, to the point where the message has been turned off, but the intruder log shows these attempts: the warnings mention netbus trojan. The IP address of the attacks seems to vary. She has scanned the computer and used WIN XP task manager to identify all the running processes. She is about to try hijackthis. Any advice as to what the problem could be?

might be worthwhile running the shields-up test at

I always turn off firewall intrusion messages; they frequently give the direst sounding warnings about the most harmless stuff and do nothing but cause paranoia.
