norton personal firewall 04 wont let me surf

I've just installed norton personal firewall into my mates computer and now it wont let me access the web unless i disable it , ive looked on the symantec pages and reset the settings but that doesn't help, anybody got an idea.Its a new machine running xp with xp firewall diabled .

not a good idea that with no protection, check you have not got i/net security settings too high.

Have you had a look at the globe icon in the system tray and checked that it says allow traffic, rather than block traffic?
May have been done in error or by default.

Open NPF, highlight Personal Firewall, click on Configure.Select Programmes.

Scroll down and remove ALL instances of internet explorer. Okay everything then shut down machine.

Reboot then open up internet explorer to access the web.

NPF should then automatically enable access once again.
