My subscription for Norton Internet Security 2005 runs out in about 2 weeks. I have read so many bad reports in this helproom about NIS that I think I should try another package rather than renew NIS. I also understand that it could be difficult to uninsstall.

Can anyone help please re :-

(1) How do I uninstall Norton Internet Security 2005, and how would I be able to check that it has been fully uninstalled.

(2)What other Internet Security systems would you recommend and is it worth paying for something like Kaspersky (which seems to get good reports lately)or are there adequate free versions available.

I recently changed from Norton Internet Security 2005. I had no complaints about it but wanted something less intrusive. I have now got NOD32 and Sunbelt/Kerio Personal Firewall. NOD32 is not free, but I have heard some good reports of it.

I know that some people have had problems uninstalling Norton, but I didn't. I used Add/Remove programs, deleted the Symantec folder and the Symantec registry keys as per Symantec's instructions. Everything worked fine.

My computer is definitely faster now.
