Norton Ghost will not use USB 2..

I've just got a new PC, my first with USB 2. I use Norton Ghost to make my own back ups. There is a message stating that only select USB 2 if all your ports are USB 2. My PC seems to have USB 1 host controllers as well as USB 2 and I think that this is why Norton does not see my USB 2 so I have to select USB 1 and run it at the old speed. Can I safely remove/uninstall the USB 1 controllers temporarily and would this work? Is is safe? Is there a better way?

Thanks and regards
