Norton AV 2002 - E-mail scanning error message

Advice please - running NAV 2002 which has been updated regularly. No problems when running on my previous OS which was Windows ME. Upgraded to Windows XP home edition last weekend, and since then there is a constant 'unable to scan e-mails'. Nortons advice is to reinstall and install [done],and restart computer [done several times. The word 'error' appears against e-mail scanning in the status list. Any ideas?
