Norton AntiVirus 2004 - Spyware Programmes

I have just upgraded to Norton AntiVirus 2004. The blurb on the box says that it "even finds certain non-virus threats such as spyware and keystroke logging programmes".
The hand book does not mention any of this.
Will AntiVirus 2004 find such programmes on my computer and also stop them downloading to my computer?
Do I have to set up any particular configuration?
Thanks
Patrick

I have Norton AV 2004, (definitions updated daily), and it did recently find one piece of spyware when I did a full scan. Obviously, it did not stop it arriving, but it did remove it.

How effective it is generally, I cannot say. I also have Zone Alarm pro.
