Norton Antivirus 2003 will not scan

In an effort to clean up a friend's virus-infected W98 PC (klez), I reformatted an old drive and installed W98 and Norton AV 2003. I set this as Master and ran NAV over the infected drive, and cleaned it up. I have also done a Scandisk without any errors.
The original drive is now Master, and boots up fine, however it refuses to scan, giving Error 3019. Symantec refers to this error and I have done everything they suggest without nailing the reason down.
Anyone come across this, please

By the way, Scandisk doesn't work from this drive either

Does NAV scan the other drives?

Or no drives?

Good point gaz 25! NAV on 'my old drive' scanned both disks Ok, but haven't used NAV on 'original' drive to scan old drive - I'll try this later on
