Normally, you should not have to manually repair an infected downloaded file. If Auto-Protect is enabled, it detects and automatically repairs an infected file. If you have Auto-Protect disabled, or you want to make sure a file you have downloaded is virus-free, perform a file scan as described below:
1/In the Norton AntiVirus main window, click Scan for Viruses.
2/Click the icon next to the Scan Files option.
3/In the Files to Scan dialog box, locate the downloaded file on your computer, select the file, and click Open.
Depending on the settings for Manual Scan in Options (and depending on your computer?s operating system), the Repair Wizard may try to automatically repair the file or may ask you what to do with the file. It is safest to allow the Repair Wizard to try to repair all infected files.
4/Follow the on-screen prompts in the Repair Wizard.
After repairing infected files, scan your drives and floppy disks with Norton AntiVirus to make sure there aren't any other files that contain viruses.
