Nortin Internet Security 2003

Installed on my son's new PC, bought last week.

The new PC came with Pinnacle Studio pre-installed. Every time he tries to register the program, Norton pops up with an alert that Pinnacle.reg exe is trying to access his PC. Listed as medium risk, the recommended action is "block". Concluding that it is alright to proceed, he alters to "permit", but Norton simply defaults to "block" again, and will not permit the procedure.

We know he can switch off Norton to register the software, but we are uneasy about this. Does Norton know something we don't?

Or is it a case that Norton things reg.exe is an attempt to edit the registry? Does it matter if we mark the program as "already registered" and don't bother?

Turn off Norton and Register the program.... yes it will alter the registry to show the program is a registered version.

under the option to permit or allow there should be a box you can tick to "allways use this action". Have you ran the Automatic programme control? If you do a programme scan it will automatically scan for all programmes that access the internet and you can block or allow them from there or let Norton automatically configure them
