Northbridge Cooler

I've just replaced the broken AMD Northbridge Chip fan with a new cooler heatsink and my PC seems to be functioning so much better but this is just a feeling. Does anyone know what problems an overheating Northbridge chip would have produced, if any. Thanks

Heat increases resistance which may lead to other problems. It is fairly well known a cool PC is better than one you make your tea on. Anyway, if the Northbridge Chip didn`t need cooling to function properly, do you think one would be fitted???

Possible motherboard failure.
The fan on my Nortbridge failed last year, i put a standard heatsink on it & the temps are fine.
The fact that i have a few extra fans & good air-flow in the case have helped though.

Northbridge handles the data exchange between the CPU, RAM and Graphics card and is connected to the Southbridge.

If it overheated your system would crash and data would be corrupted. As johndrew says, it runs better cooler!
