Hi, I have lost the sound control program and I have no speaker icon in the Task bar. I have been into General tab, 'enable Show Volume Control on Taskbar', But i get the message 'Windows cannot display the volume control on the task bar because the volume control program has not been installed. To install it use add/remove program in Control Panel'.
I have windows XP Pro. and SP2 installed.
can someone please advise.
regards

My personal experience with flaky sound systems is that trying to find the problem can waste a lot of good time.

The solution that has always worked for me is to simply do a fresh install of the audio card files from the audio installation CD that came with your PC.

If you do this don't forget to run Windows Update after the install to check for more recent drivers than those on the CD and to visit the website of the audio card supplier to download any patches that may have been issued after the CD was cut.
