No standby/hibernate on my laptop?

  mikegm7 10:41 30 Sep 05

I have recently reformatted my laptop. Now when i want to shut down, the hibernate button is not there, and the standby button is 'greyed'out. How can I restore these buttons?
Thanks in advance

Start-control panel-power options-hibernate and check the option. Personally I would not bother as it uses huge amounts of resources for no benefit.

Power options was the first place i looked, but there is no option for this listed...any other ideas. Thanks
