OK this one has me perplexed:- formated hard drive to do a clean install of windows as loads of hassles.
computer a HP with a pentium 3 chip. Following re-install coould not find drivers for audio as notr able to identify hardware. So installed new sound card. speakers produce all the blips that windows makes(!)but no sound when i put in a cd. Downloaded Media player but gives this message:"Windows Media Player cannot find the specified file. Be sure the path is typed correctly. If it is, the file does not exist at the specified location, or the computer where the file is stored is offline."
So I am now a bit lost with this??

Some CD devices need a cable (data) connection between the CDROM and the sound card, is yours one of these?
