No sound in Vista

Just installed Vista on a partition on my PC and I have lost all sound. It has to do with an incompatible MIDI device (Nvidia MPU 401) and there is a bit about it on the Microsoft site. I was wondering if there was anyone out there who had resolved this, or will I have to buy a compatible sound card and install that?

I know there is a compatibility problem, but I also understand that on certain computers, if you disable the midi in the bios, you no longer get the message, and all seems to work.
