First thing to do is open the volume control by right clicking the speaker icon on the task bar and check that nothing is set to "mute".

It would be helpful to know what kind of sound setup you are using, onboard, pci etc, and also the make and model of the same. Mean time right click my computer, click properties select the hardware tab then device manager, scroll down to your sound card and see if there are any yellow exclamation marks, and post back. Also let us know what OS you are using, and if you have tried a system restore to an earlier, working configuration.

Its Realtek AC'97 Audio,
Location- PCI bus 0, device 31 , function 5

i did a system trouble shoot and there are no sounds at all, none on music, no system sounds such as errors, asterisks etc i have checked connections everything seems fine, i am baffled

i tried system restore to an earlier working date & config and sound is still dead.
