"no sound device"

I am sure there is a sound device in this pc - I had to recently reformat it once because of a crash but I never actually used it for sound only office based applications i boufght some speakers and downloaded WMP to play cds but get the above message --the legacy audio driver is greyed out (i'm usingh different pc now) is there a river I can download or is the sound card missing?

What happens when you go into device manager.Any yellow exclamation marks beside audio.[Right click my computer.properties.Hardware.Device Manager.]
Maybe download this.SIW it will tell you everything you want to know about your computer including motherboard etc.

Have you installed the sound drivers off the motherboard driver disc
