No sound after XP repair install

  Chris Webster 19:59 30 Jan 11

I have just finished doing a repair install on an XP Home laptop.

Everything is now running fine except there is no sound.

I've had a look in device manager and there aren't any 'yellow question marks' against anything related to the sound.

Regards, Chris.

Have checked that the sound is not switched off, mine is fn+F8?

Go to the laptop makers web site, from the support section download the sound drivers and install them to fix your problem

While you are there download the full set of drivers and burn them to CD in case you ever need them again

Cheers HC

Hi all,

stupid error on my part, I didn't realise there was a rotary volume adjustment switch on the side of his laptop.

Although the speaker symbol in the system tray was on maximum, the switch on the side was 'wound down' to minimum....Doh.

Regards, Chris.
