Can anyone help! my daughters PC running Windows ME has lost it's sound, there is no volume icon, the master volume control in settings is greyed out,I have looked through previous threads and done all the things suggested ie.reloaded drivers from Creative AWE 64 CD,removed drivers and re-booted PC etc.but to no avail.

chech this out

goto control panel

sounds and audio devices

click the audio tab

where it says default device (make sure it isn't set to your modem)

have it set to your sound card,in this case Creative AWE 64

click apply

If you still have a problem, physically remove the sound card from your system, restart your PC,then close it down and reinstall the sound card ,upon restarting the PC windows should tell you new hardware found, use the latest drivers,
good luck
