I upgraded my graphics card to a nvidea 6600gt on asus A8v Deluxe with wifi mobo, xp 3500+ cpu, 2 gig Kingston pc3200. All went fine but after a week or so I got black screen on start up. Have tried the card in alternate machine which works fine. If I place my old card back on the mobo everything works fine. I do not understand.

So in effect, right now you have no problem, right ?

Only when using my old graphics card. The 6600gt did work

can you boot up using your old card, then uninstall it from device manager, then shut down your P.C.

Then reseat your new card, and if it boots use these drivers. click here

Faulty card, loose connection? Bent pins?

Incorrect voltage for card?

  961 10:21 30 Apr 05

Wrong refresh rate? Corrupted drivers?

  crumbdias 10:23 30 Apr 05

Have checked all these things. Card not faulty as I have checked using another machine. I have 2 power supplies which I have checked with aswell. 1 500w other 600w

Does the new card have it's own power socket ? By that I mean, is there a Molex type connector on the card that you connect a dedicated supply onto from the PSU ?
