no power

i've just decided to put my old pc in my boys bedroom,but on turning it on there is no power,do batteries just die or slowly fade or is it a power supply fault.any ideas would be helpful,thanx.

I take it you checked other appliances work on the socket. Check the fuse in the plug. Could be the computer battery has had it, how long since last change? easy to change it. Take off cover-locate battery-buy a replacement(boot the chemist are good).

If PC has remained pluged in the same place for some time then moved it could be the CMOS battery.

Sorry, its more serious than the battery...........
If the battery goes down then BIOS will revert to default and the clock will tell a silly time.

Seems to me you have a PSU fault if there are no sounds or lights anywhere when you switch on.
