Hope someone can help.
Bought a new MSI K7N2 motherboard/AMD Athlon 2400/DDR Ram and new Hard drive.
Fitted it all in the case started up and entered bios to detect hard disk etc, looked all through bios settings following the manual changed one or two saved to cmos and then a black screen with no POST. switched off computer and powered it up again, same black screen, monitor remains in standby mode with light flashing. Hard drive and fans are all spinning.
Reset CMOS using the jumper, still the same.
Any one got a clue what's going on please.

Did you get an installation floppy with your HDD?

I had to boot with mine where it installed some files and then it was detected OK

No I didn't, but the computer's not even getting that far, when I switch on the power there is no POST at all just a black screen so I can't even access the BIOS. the monitor and graphics card have been checked on another computer and they work fine.

we built pc``s using this mobo at college.
they are verry fussy as to the flavour of ram used.

if you can try differant ram or if you have 2 sticks try them one at a time.
