Just got our first home laptop :-

Medion MD96178 with Windows Vista Home Premium

I wanted to be able to play some Midi files but system says no midi device is available.

The on board sound on the old HP desktop would play them so what's different about a laptops on board sound card ?

You might need to go into the BIOS to enable the AC97 Audio Device, to be found under Peripherals.

Nothing in BIOS for 'Peripherals' or AC97 Audio Device
