no internet / ip problem

hi

my friend recently signed up with sky broadband but is unable to connect to the internet. they contacted customer support who offered a new router, but the problem remains.

i had a look myself and noticed the ip address begins with 169 instead of 192. i'm also unable to log into the router settings.

can anyone help please?

The ISP IP address does not necessarily begin with 192. The home network normally starts with 192.160.*.*

The Router log in could be mis-typed username or password.
