No HTTP autofilled

Just noticed some new behaviour in my IE browser which I can't resolve.
Whenever I type a website address into the URL address bar, the HTTP portion that used to get automatically strapped on the beginning doesn't anymore. I just receive an error that IE couldn't find the website.
Has anyone seen this malware before please?
