no drives found

Long story about my son building a PC and shorting the motherboard and having to resort to technicians to rebuild (at a cost). Apparently working now(they say). Trying to install software. Placed the windows 98 cd in the drive - monitor shows option to Start Windows 98 setup from cd rom - select it - then message saying device driver not found and returns to a: prompt.

I am confused here, it is reading the fact that the windows disc is in the drive then saying the device driver is not found. Also from the A: prompt I can't switch to the C: prompt. Checked the bios and the floppy, dvd & hard drive are all showing.

Help needed for frustrated father.

the boot floppy needs a device driver on it to run the CD drive.

device=himem.sys /testmem:off
device=oakcdrom.sys /D:mscd001
device=btcdrom.sys /D:mscd001
device=aspicd.sys /D:mscd001

download a windows 98 bot disk from click here

Thanks for the reply Fruit bat.
Tried this but no joy. Pressing F8 and select boot from floppy - the floppy light comes on then stops,
then get a prompt to boot from hard drive of CDrom.

Choosing cdrom (which has the win98 disc in) starts to run - seems to start loading then returns cant find device driver.

Also concerned that I can't switch to the c: prompt.

So currently have an A: prompt and can't do anything with it.
