I bought a game and installed it on my 98 system, it installed ok but when I try to play it I get a message saying "no CD in drive" when of course the CD is in the drive any ideas anyone?

This is sometimes an indication of the drive on its way out...not always.Try cleaning the CDROM and the Drive.
Also worth trying, uninstall the driver for CDROM, then reboot.

The drive recognizes all the other CD,s I put in it is just this one....strange

It's a faulty CD then, presumably.

The CD works ok in my other computer wich makes it all the stranger.

mmmm...have you cleaned it.?
Is it intermittent or all the time?

I only got the game yesterday but it has never worked in my win998 system, I have tried cleaning it no change.

I seemed to have jumped into the future a Win998 system that will not be out till next year ;-)

Is the drive a DVD? try removing thedriver from device mnager and see if that helps.

AMD 4 ever no it is a CD-ROM drive, as I said in my original post I have never had this problem with any other CD as DieSse said I would have suspected the CD itself if it did,nt work ok on my other computer.

I had this problem with a music CD that played fine everywhere else.
My solution was to update my CDrom drivers.
Worked in the end!
