No BB line

My son in London is running Tiscali BB. He tells me that he is unable to get a connection to Tiscali. Both they and BT have checked the line and said that it is OK (he has no problems with his phone). PC World suggested that he needed a new modem . He uninstalled the Tiscali modem and installed the new one but that did not solve the problem. On both modems, the indicator lights came on correctly. He now wants to re-install the Tiscali modem but the free Tiscali CD is dated 2001. Will he need a later one - is there a later one? Any suggestions as to the cause and cure of his problem would be appreciated. We are not technically minded so please keep it simple.

Has it never worked, or is this a recent problem?

If the Tiscali supplied modem is a Sagem F@st800, then the drivers can be downloaded from:

Speedtouch 330 from:

Vista version or Windows Driver (all Broadband speeds; actually this is "up to 8MB".)

I'm presuming it was a USB modem that was supplied in view of the time period.
