No Backup, No Safe Mode and No System restore!

During my usual backup routine of imaging the whole of drive C, my Acronis True Image gave error messages and stated that it could not back up my drive.

I went into Safe Mode to try and back up from there but the PC freezes after the drivers are loaded.

I went back into normal mode to go to one of my many Restore Points but they'd all disappeared.

Any ideas of what the hell has happened, anyone?

No viruses or spyware has been found by the various software that I use.

No, I must admit, I haven't.

I've now got the program to back up my drive. And I've made some new System Restore points which seem to be staying put.

However, I can't get into safe mode at all.

It lists the drivers but stops after 'iom' which must be Iomega driver.

Hard drives flash for a few seconds and then the system just hangs each time.

I've run the sfc /scannow too but still no luck.
