NO AUDIO DEVICE

For some reason the audio device on my laptop has stopped working.

I have checked to see if there are any hardware device conflicts : Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device Manager And there aren't any yellow warnings against any of the devices.

When I go to Control Panel - Sounds and Audio Devices - Volume there is nothing showing.

As far as I can tell I have a Realtek AC97 installed.

Can anyone advise anything to try?

Hi, if you are using XP try a System Restore back to before you 'lost' the audio. My partner had the same problem on her laptop, a System Restore 'cured' it.

Reinstall drivers? They should be on a cd supplied with the computer or on the makers website.

Tried that but to no avail.
