Nikon Scan v4.0.2, - Program Freezes

  thegreypanther 08:18 14 Mar 05

I am using a Nikon Super Coolscan 5000 film scanner, with Nikon Scan v4.0.2. My PC runs Windows XP Home, and has 1 Gb RAM and uses an Athlon 2700 processor. Unfortunately, when running Nikon Scan the program tends to hang fairly regularly. I have contacted Nikon and provided them with a full analysis of what happens, and all they can suggest is that there is a "memory clash" between Nikon Scan and something else running on the PC. Does anybody else have experience of Nikon Scan freezing up? Is there any way of finding out WHICH program could be clashing with Nikon Scan? (Anti-virus, firewall?.

Using msconfig, disable everything except your scanner software and reboot; then see if it will run. If it will, enable half and try again.

By a process of elimination you may be able to find out.
