Nikon D50 Repairs

  ZAKAROONY 16:36 04 Oct 07

I have a nikon D50 that has stopped working when i try to take a photo their is a long pause then the shutter activates but no photo is taken.
I have tried it with different lenses in different modes but it makes no difference.
On the top display where it normally shows how many photos left to take it says r09.
I have tried to get an estimate for repair but noone will give me a definitave answer most say between £60 and £200.
Is it possible to repair these cameras DIY.

Some explanations of r09

I don't really know much about the D50 (I have a D200) but have you checked the shooting mode. It must focus before the shutter will fire, if it's the same as mine, unless you have set something different.

As for DIY repair, I wouldn't even think about it.

A final thought, have you tried a different memory card?
