New windows in IE6

I am having a problem with internet explorer. When I click a link that opens in a new window the outline of the window appears complete with headers (address bar, toolbar) but no new webpage. Instead it appears to take a snapshot of the area of the original page where the window opened. I can move this snapshot around the screen and the image does not change (animated gifs etc remain static as when 'snapshot' taken)and the requested web page never appears. I can on some pages hit the stop and refresh icons and then the page will load but when it's a secure site such as my online bank it wont let me. This of course stops me using my bank, a major inconvienience.
Any help greatly apprieciated.

Copy this, paste into address bar, remove the space after // and click Go.

Follow the instructions.

That sorted it. I notice I'm not the only one with this problem today.
