New Video card advice.

My current Video card is an ATI Radeon 9250 with 128mb RAM. Would I see much, if any benefit, games wise, by upgrading to a Radeon 9600 Pro with 256mb RAM?

I notice there are different versions of the card, PRO, XT and so on, which one is it better to go for?

Anyone got any advice?

No experts out there?

Phono, the XT version is the better of the 2 cards you mentioned(the core runs faster than the Pro version).

If you post some system specs(CPU, RAM, motherboard and what version of windows your using)and an idea of your budget, then someone may suggest a better alternative than a 9600 series card.

HTH, dagwoood.

CPU = Athlon 64 3200+
RAM = 1 Gig
Mobo = Chaintech SK8T800
OS = XP Home with SP2
Current graphics = ATI Radeon 9250 128mb RAM
Budget = Circa £100 (Don't laugh please)

Pick up a second hand 9800pro if you can find one. And yes you will notice a difference.

Looks a decent buy and the price is about right. Though not sure if you would see much difference between the 256MB and the 128MB version with this particular card. Though at that price I would maybe consider an X700pro. As these are a next generation card.
See click here for examples / prices. I've used OCuk before and they appear an OK company.

So many options...

I'd go with 007al's suggestion and get a 6600GT as they provide better performance than a 9800Pro. I found one on e-buyer for £100 plus delivery click here

If you did go with a 6600GT, make sure your power supply is up to the job. Something rated at over 450watts is what you would need.
