New telephone scam?

  Fateful Shadow 11:37 30 Oct 05

This morning I have had about 6 'phone calls' which have turned out to be from the BT Text/Voice message store (the one where if you send a text message to a landline it will 'talk' to you). However, each time I have pressed 1 to receive it, I have been told that the message cannot be deciphered, hence I have just lost out on some money on receiving something neither the service or I can comprehend.

It has been from the same number every time, and when I have attempted to ring back the number, it either says the 'phone is switched off' (landline) or just a call failure (mobile).

Is this some sort of advertising scam, or are we just being pestered?

Thanks :)

Ask BT to investigate.
