I have just installed a new soundcard into my 1gigRam Win XP system & frankly the maximum volume output is rubbish compared to the one the pc came with.

The installation was successful, I have been through all the settings & disabled the previous integrated sound card in the BIOS but to no effect.

Any ideas?

Have you checked the mixer settings to ensure that they are not muted/slider turned down/disabled and that utilities such as Windows Media Player haven't got the mute button enabled?

It's worth checking the connections again as well to see if they are in the correct sockets just in case..:-)
