New sound card

Morning people.
Is following procedure correct,
Fit new soundcard, boot up computer, enter bios, disable onboard sound, save and exit, let WinXP find new card, install up to date soundcard drivers, et viola.
Do I need to delete onboard sound drivers or will disabling in bios be enough.

Disabling in BIOS should be enough. No need to bother deleting the onboard sound drivers.
