Hi i have a dell dimension 3100, i wanted to upgrade graphics, but only has pci sockets, so i gave up.

at the same time i also just a got a intel core 2 duo e6750 processor.

I tried this today but the comp would not boot up.

i have now decided to build my own, but i want to use the processor i just bought, is that a good idea?, and what mother board should i get for this chip as a starting point.

i figure i can use the dvd, case and hard disk from dell comp...

thanks and any thoughts welcome.

Well, at least it's better than the Pentium 4 CPU in the 3100.

It's a socket 775 & you'll need a micro-ATX for your Dell 3100 case so click here for some examples from Amazon, please note you may have to reinstall your windows OS.
