I have recently purchased a new msi p6n sli v2 motherboard but cant get it to function properly.

my system has 3gb of ram with 512mb 8600gt graphics card. The processor ive been using is a pentium 4 3.06ghz as i know this works although i have a core2duo e6750 ready 4 when i get the system working.

When i turn the pc on, nothing comes on my screen, all the fans and lights power up on the motherboard, but nothing else really happens. ive checked and double checked to make sure everythings plugged in correctly but still no luck

Anyone got any ideas as to the problem?

Any Beeps?

Is there extra power needed to the graphics card?

Remove and reseat the ram

tried both. and no extra power needed for the graphics card.

everything is working with my old motherboard and everything is compatible with the new one

Two things to try
click here have you installed the bracket with the 4 lights on it.

Have you connected The 8 pin Aux CPU power connector sits just southwest of the processor socket directly beneath the copper tubing for the heat pipe cooling system.

Ok so is the 8 pin power connector attached?

Have you tried reseting the BIOS?

Is your P4 on the suported list click here

No Beeps - my first thought is the case connections to the motherboard. Check the + and - positions.

Next remove the graphics card and reseat it.

Remove some of the RAM then swap the installed for the ones removed.
