New Memory-CAS Latency

  ulrich 17:25 19 Aug 05

I don't have a problem but I have put 1GB of RAM in my PC this has a cas lat of 3.00, my old 2700 ram had a cas of 2.5, I have the BIOS set at SPD, and I assumed the cas would go auto to 3.00, does it matter, the PC is working fine?

the CAS setting is not really that importaint from a performance factor with DDR RAM as it is working twice a cycle anyway, if you set it all to CAS3 you will guarantee stability but if it is happy then dont worry, i had some TwinMOS PC2700 CAS 2 that ran for yonks at PC3200 speeds at CAS 2 even with a memtest it was ok.

Thanks Sack it is working a a quicker speed, but it was recommended by Crucial so I won't worry.
