New Laptop Wireless Blues

my new laptop has wireless capability that matches my router's (802.11g), yet it refuses to connect wirelessly. Oddly though it can connect fine via a network cable.

my vista premium laptop shows that i am connected to the router, but that i have "limited connectivity". This translates to no internet access wirelessly.

To help out:

1) i've set encryption as "AES", and security type as "WPA personal" both of which match the set up I have used with other PC's
2) the wirelss network is security protected and i have entered the correct password
3) my other machines connect fine to the wireless network still.

i am a little at a loss here. please help!
