New laptop - should I go for XP Pro?

I'm on the verge of buying a HP Laptop and can pay an additional &89 to upgrade it to XP Pro. The laptop will be in addition to my main PC which I hope to link via a wireless network.

My main PC has XP Pro but an invalid product key number. If I pay the extra £89 which presumably will give me a genuine XP product key number will I be able to use that key number on my main PC to get updates from Microsoft?

Thanks for you help

No because then you would have two PC's with the same code which MS will decline to activate.

Thanks , but I thought that one of the main features of XP (and no doubt partly explains the extra cost) is that it allows multiple pcs to be registered at one location.

license wise

Normal XP Pro, activation the same way as XP Home

XP Pro Large volumn licence (used by big company), NO need for activation

for most user, there NO benefit of Pro over home.

If you really want to leg, you are better off to buy a OEM version of home for £55.
